Summary
A descendant of an Irish revolutionary unravels the mystery of his murder. Discovers he was actually a traitor and agreed to a public execution that would make him die hero to further the cause. Group puts on a play mirroring Shakespeare in which the whole city is a theatre. Descendant decides not to reveal the truth.
Thoughts
Read like a commentary on the Idolization of heroes while exploring how Fiction influences reality. Read like a research mystery as the descendant pieces together the story and ultimately reveals it is all a grand play which he continues to perpetuate in the end.
The concept of a play acted out across the whole city and circumstances leading up to the 'hero''s death are also brilliant.
